Surfing in Praa Sands
Praa Sands
Breaking just a few meters in front of our properties are the fine waves of Praa Sands. Hollow, punchy and fast. Best on SW swells and winds ranging from NW to ENE. Best at mid to high tide. The East end, Hendra, picks up a little more swell and is popular with bodyboarders.
Magicseaweed and Ann’s Cottage both offer good webcams.
Surfing Lessons & Hire
Surfing lessons are available in season. There is a surf shop next to the cafe, Stones Reef. Lessons are also offered by local firm Global Boarders. Rentals are available here too.
Nearby Surf Spots
Perranuthnoe is a good option if Praa is getting a bit big or you like logging. It’s only 5 minutes down the road. Head to the infamous Porthleven if you are happy with crowds and reefs. It is shallow, competitive and often busy, so be prepared! The North Coast is a 20 minute drive with Gwithian being the closest break.
“We love staying in Praa Sands, the views and it’s convenience are perfect”
“Whilst we travel around more these days, if a property is vacant and it fits with our schedule, we’ll snap up the chance for a week in our old village. As we stay here ourselves we make sure the creature comforts are in place, so Brad’s got sharp knives and a BBQ so he can keep cooking and they are easily heated, which in winter is really handy!” Brad and Lindsey, Owners.
